The news first caused a furore online after a Facebook post shared by the employee of Lelux Hospital in Bangkok which includes a video of laser treatment. The Facebook post described its unique penis whitening procedure that changes the colour of men’s crotch zone, as well as side-by-side pictures of a penis before and after the whitening procedure. Web users were stunned by the video and it has been shared more than million times within few days.
We get around 100 clients a month, three to four clients a day,' Bunthita Wattanasiri, a manager for the Skin and Laser department at Lelax Hospital told AFP. The whitening service costs around £480 for five sessions. "Patients started to ask about penis whitening, and so we started the treatment a month later," said Popol Tansakul, the marketing manager of Lelux Hospital. "They are popular among gay men and transvestites who take great care of their private parts. They want to look good in all areas."
Thailand's general health ministry has issued a warning over weird and unusual pattern of penis brightening, which has been connected to the nation's obsession with white skin. Skin whitening is considered fashionable over Thailand as the darker skin is related to outside work and being poorer.

In any case, Thai health experts have asked people to reexamine undergoing the laser treatment, which can prompt scarring, inflammation and "dreadful looking spots and in rare cases infertility". They also added that the results could be temporary once people stop the laser treatments and unless the procedure is followed up it is likely that colour of the skin will come back and the patients will be left with ugly looking pigmentation spots.
"Penis laser whitening is not necessary, wastes money and may give more negative effects than positive ones," Dr. Thongchai Keeratihuttayakorn of the ministry said, according to the BBC report.
Skin bleaching and whitening procedures are controversial subjects in Thailand and are associated with racism.
Hey, somebody please tell those crazy men that it’s the size and moves that matter women, in the end.
