1.Sushma Swaraj

Sushma Swaraj is a famous Indian politician and a former Supreme Court lawyer. Currently, she is the Minister of External Affairs of India, who has been in the office since 26 May, 2014. She is the second woman in the Indian history after Indira Gandhi to be the Minister of External Affairs.

2. Smrithi Irani

Smriti Zubin Irani is an Indian politician and the new Textiles Minister under the Narendra Modi government. She served as the Union Minister for Human Resource Development (HRD) before the reshuffling of the Cabinet took place on July 5. She is the member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Irani is a former model and a television actress who worked for a considerable number of daily soaps (TV serials). She is also a producer and has an entertainment company by the name of Ugraya Entertainment.

3. Maneka Gandhi

Maneka Gandhi, a prominent Indian politician belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She is currently the Minister for Women & Child Development in government. Apart from being a politician, she also works for the animal rights and is a known environmentalist.What may come as a surprise to everyone is that she is also a former model. Being the widow of Sanjay Gandhi, she belongs to famous Nehru-Gandhi family.

4. Nirmala Sitharaman

One of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's six women ministers is India's newly appointed Defence Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman has just created history. She became India's first woman full-time Defence Minister ( Late PM Indira Gandhi was the first woman to to handle the defence portfolio as an additional charge on a couple of occasions earlier).

‘Annan’ is now in the Oxford Dictionary

   The word ‘Anna’ has been added to the Oxford English dictionary. Anna' meaning elder brother in Tamil and Telugu, has finally found recognition in the OxfordEnglish Dictionary (OED).    So far, Anna exists in the dictionary as a noun, which means a former monetary unit of India and Pakistan, equal to one-sixteenth of a rupee. Now, anna2 (also annan), noun, has been added.     The Oxford English Dictionary also has over 70 Indian words from Telugu, Urdu, Tamil, Hindi and Gujarati. Abba, meaning "father in Urdu", has also been incorporated in Oxford. The other word includes acha, bapu, bada din, bacha, suryanamaskar.      In the process of adding new words in September, various Indian words are placed in the Oxford English dictionary. Oxford updates its dictionary 4 times a year, in March, June, September and December.
